Classic Motorcycle Club – 1000 Bike Show

1000 bikes or more!

Annually on the first weekend in July, the Classic Motorcycle Club runs their 1000 Bike Show, a highlight on the motorcycling calendar and an event at which all shapes and sizes of new and historic motorcycles compete for a prizes in a variety of classifications. The event is typically supported by around 10 000 visitors who come to see the many and varied motorcycles on display, buy motorcycle related merchandise, show off their own motocylces and enjoy fellowship with their friends and those from other motorcycle clubs.

Rotarian’s serving thirsty bikers

For the past 5 years the CMC has kindly appointed the Rotary Club of Knights Pendragon to run the bar and draught beer carousels, dispensing a wide selection of drinks to the shows visitors. The payment for this bar duty is essential funding to the Rotary Club with its numerous projects.

Rotary National Sea Rescue Institute Wine Auction

The Rotary Club of Knights Pendragon partners with the Rotary Clubs of Newlands and Table Bay in fundraising for the NSRI by holding an annual wine auction in each of Cape Town and Johannesburg each year.  The focus of these funds is for the NSRI’s essential equipment maintenance and upgrade projects. The NSRI is a volunteer organisation providing water rescue services on our coastline and major dams, as well as working closely with Waterwise, a non profit organisation that educates children in water safety to prevent drownings.

These events typically raises between R250,000 to R350,000 for the NSRI from the sale of an extensive variety of red, white wines and ports, often including scarce large 3, 5 and 18 litre bottles, generously donated by many Cape Vinyards and Winemakers.

While the wines are collected, cataloged and photographed by the Newlands and Table Bay Rotary clubs, the Rotary Club of Knights Pendragon organises the venue, ticket sales, auctioneer and logistics for the Johannesburg Rotary NSRI Wine Auction.
