DeLescaut Childrens Foundation

The objective of the foundation is to provide physical and/or financial support to organisations, both private and government in South Africa, who are judged by the board to be in need. The support shall not be to any one individual or foundation, but shall be for the benefit of all children of the organisation chosen by the board.

Knights Pendragon works with the DeLescaut Childrens Foundation to assist the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital Paediatric Burns Intensive Care Unit by assisting in the raising of funds and facilitating the supply of necessary equipment maintenance, replacements and upgrades with the primary objective of reducing infections in the young burns patients and aiding their recovery.

The Paediatric Burns unit admits about 400 children annually and strives to serve the community by:
• Emphasising primary prevention of burns through community outreach and education;
• Conduction Emergency Management of Severe Burns courses;
• Creating a larger unit with its own independent theatre and anaesthetic support
• Providing a nurturing and stimulating environment to recover in;
• Recruiting and retaining nursing staff.
