Legae la Nnete

Legae la Nnete is a registered public benefit organisation situated on a farm in Muldersdrift, northwest of Johannesburg. Its name translates to “A Real Home,” reflecting the charity’s mission to support individuals who have experienced setbacks in life by providing accommodation, therapy, counselling, and opportunities for employment and personal growth.

The farm serves as a place of refuge for men who, through circumstances such as divorce, addiction, bereavement, or financial hardship, have found themselves struggling with hopelessness and despair. It offers a supportive environment where residents can rebuild their lives, regain confidence, and restore a sense of purpose.

Through fellowship, therapy, counselling, work programmes, and skills development initiatives, the men are given the opportunity to make a fresh start and move forward positively. More than simply a facility, the farm is designed to provide a genuine sense of belonging and community — in every sense, “A Real Home.”

At Legae La Nnete, every residents participate in a four-month recovery programme, which includes a weekly therapy session, a weekly counselling session and working through the 12 step recovery programme. They also participate in daily support group meetings and attend church on Sundays

Once residents are ready to move forward, they are assisted in finding employment and may continue staying at the farm while developing essential life skills such as budgeting, financial management, and personal responsibility. This support continues until they are financially stable and able to live independently of Legae la Nnete.

The farm currently has accommodation for 25 residents, with additional facilities under construction to help meet the growing demand for support and rehabilitation services.

The Rotary Club of Knights Pendragon supports Legae la Nnete through ad hoc funding for various projects, the sourcing of donated materials and equipment, and by helping to secure paid work opportunities for the men living on the farm.

These work opportunities play an important role in both skills development and income generation, helping residents rebuild their confidence and independence while also contributing to the ongoing sustainability of Legae la Nnete.
