The Rotary Foundation is organised as a public charity dedicated exclusively to charitable and humanitarian purposes and is governed by a Board of Trustees. The activities of Rotary International, the membership organisation, are overseen separately by its Board of Directors.
Through the “Every Rotarian Every Year” initiative, Rotarians are encouraged to contribute at least US$100 annually to The Rotary Foundation. These contributions can be viewed as an investment into a global fund that supports sustainable, community-based projects both locally and internationally.
Clubs raise these funds within their local communities and contribute them to The Rotary Foundation. In return, clubs are able to apply for District and Global Grants to support projects in their own communities or in partnership with Rotary clubs around the world. This funding model enables clubs to maximise the impact of their contributions, often receiving grant support that far exceeds the original amount invested into the Foundation.
