Rotary Family Health Days

In partnership with the Department of Health and various corporate sponsors, Rotary annually organises health screening and testing programmes for individuals in underserved communities who have limited or no access to basic healthcare services.
Together with other Rotary clubs, our club establishes and manages temporary medical centres located near targeted communities during a three-day outreach programme held annually in October.
Donor support is essential to assist with transportation costs to and from these centres, as well as the provision of basic food supplies required for the operation of the facilities.

GLOBAL HANDWASHING PARTNERSHIP

Included in the Rotary Family Health Days initiative is the “Global Handwashing Partnership” project, which is highlighted annually on Global Handwashing Day, celebrated on the 15th October annually. The project promotes healthy living and disease prevention by encouraging the regular habit of washing hands with soap.

MISSION

The Global Handwashing Partnership is a coalition that brings together the expertise, experience, ideas, resources, and global reach of both the public and private sectors to promote handwashing with soap. The organisation recognises hygiene as a fundamental pillar of public health and international development, and promotes handwashing as a simple, effective, and affordable “do-it-yourself vaccine” that helps prevent infections and save lives.

The Rotary Club of Knights Pendragon actively promotes the importance of proper handwashing and personal hygiene through its annual participation in the Rotary Family Health Days initiative.

As part of this programme, the Club helps raise awareness within underserved communities about the vital role that regular handwashing with soap plays in preventing the spread of infections and reducing the risk of disease. Through education, demonstrations, and community engagement, the initiative encourages healthy hygiene habits that contribute to improved public health and overall wellbeing, particularly among children and vulnerable families.
