Youth Leadership Development
Since 1993, the Rotary Club of Knights Pendragon has successfully run an annual Youth Leadership Training camp. Now in its 26th year, this Leadership Training weekend camp involves some 80 grade 11 learners drawn from 21 schools representing a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds, from township schools to private schools, more than 75% of whom are previously disadvantaged individuals and classified as Black in terms of the BEE Codes of Good Practice.
The learners are chosen by their schools for their leadership potential and are invited to the camp to further develop their leadership skills. During the 3 day camp learners are taught a variety of leadership and teamwork skills by a professional facilitator. The skills learnt are such that they can be put into practice both at school and in their future work environments.
As the majority of the learners come from impoverished backgrounds, Rotary does not charge for this project and is therefore dependent on the donations of socially responsible companies such as yours in providing these life skills to young leaders.
In recent years University of Pretoria students from the faculties of Engineering, Built Environment and Information Technology have given generously of their time in assisting with the organising and arrangements of this Community based Project as can be seen in the Video Below.
Our sincere thanks go to those who have supported this project with both time and money over the year. For the May 2017 Your Leadership Camp, our sincere gratitude goes to Mr Gavin Lund of Van der Post & Lund Training for donating his time and expertise in facilitating the leadership training. To Torre Industries, Amka Products and PacknStack for their funding of this worthwhile project.
