NSRI donated a Survival Suite

Rotarian Ron Smith, kindly donated a marine survival suit to the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) for use in training. An immersion suit, or survival suit (or more specifically an immersion survival suit) is a special type of waterproof dry suit that protects the wearer from hypothermia when immersed in cold water, typically after abandoning a sinking or capsized vessel – especially in the open ocean.

The NSRI is the charity that saves lives on South African waters. Run by over 1 000 highly skilled, unpaid volunteers who are on standby day and night throughout the year. Donations and sponsorships cover their annual running costs of R73.4m.

If you are interested in volunteering, offering assistance or a donation to the NSRI, please get further information on this charity at http://www.nsri.org.za/  or contact them at http://www.nsri.org.za/contact-us/
