The kindness and consideration of a group of ladies who tirelessly knit blankets, beanies and soft toys to ease the struggle of young burns victims in their recovery and in overcoming their trauma, is heartwarming. These Friends of the Rotary Club of Knights Pendragon quietly get on with filling the continuous demand for replacement blankets, beanies and soft toys in the Chris Hani Baragwanath Pediatric Burns Intensive Care Unit.
Often coming from poor households, and at times without parental support or familiar toys to provide comfort, these donated knitted items ease their recovery experience and are often taken home by the patient. The efforts of this dedicated knitting fraternity recently enable another large consignment of knitted items, together with colouring and reading books from the Humanitarian Distribution Centre, to be delivered to the Chris Hani Baragwanath Pediatric Burns Intensive Care Unit.
The club wishes to express its gratitude to all involved for their tireless efforts towards improving the lives of these young burns victims.
