Dischem Ride For Sight Marshalling

A peloton of cyclists stretching back into the distance as it passes a marshalling point.

A cool, clear Summer’s morning greeted the members of Knights Pendragon for their annual marshalling effort in support of Retina SA’s fundraiser, the Dischem Ride for Sight cycle race. Manning 6 intersections of the cycle route alongside EMPD officers to direct the waves of cyclists safely down the route and to report any accidents, first aid needs or other emergencies being the order of the day.

Retina South Africa’s mission as a non-profit, self-help organisation, is to restore the gift of sight to children and adults living with low or degenerating vision or blindness caused by genetic retinal eye conditions. Through this endeavour, treatments for retinal blindness are already being found and the funds raised from the sponsorship and proceeds of the cycle race further assists in this research.
